Walking through the woods never tires. I love walking and listening to the birds, especially if geese or swans fly over. And I love working on my story or poems while walking to the rhythm of steps.
Chickening out
Today I am not going though. I just don’t feel like venturing out into the cold, and that’s cool. This year I am being nice to myself. There’s a thin layer of snow but that doesn’t bother me. The sky is kind of yellowy so more snow might be on the way but that would just add to the walk.
No, I am staying inside to work on my prequel. I am in the process of reading through the parts and writing down what I need to edit for each part. Up to part 3 of 4 parts, the end is nearing and I want to get it done so I can give it to everyone on my email list as a thank you.

Into the rhythm
And then as I was about to go upstairs Google sent me the above photos of some of the woods I walked in. Just looking at the photos was soothing. I totally get the concept of forest bathing. When you walk among the trees on a fine day, you can’t help but let go of stress and anxiety. And just like a good sauna you feel so much better after.
Did you notice, I said: on a fine day? Well, here it has already started to snow…
What about you? Does walking inspire you and your writing? Where do you like to walk? What parts of your writing does it help with? Or if you aren’t a writer, what do you get out of your walks?
