Cosy mysteries in overlooked places, and the art of growing older.

Let’s get this party started

Happy New Year to you! I look forward to connecting with you and reading your posts in 2024.

Max dives into the new year, well more like starts lapping it up.

I’ve returned to WordPress, after leaving to another and then yet another provider I am back. I like connecting with readers most, and I didn’t realise how good WordPress was for that until I left. I was happy with my other providers because their design and templates were much less challenging. I struggled a bit at first but this morning I already received fantastic support from a happiness engineer. Happy engineer, happy blogger!

Overwhelmed

First of all, I’d like wish you all Happy New Year. I am truly hoping this year regains some sanity in the world, a lot of peace and love. This life is already short enough… I just don’t understand why we kill each other. My own slogan for 2024 is: Focus on what you have got!

Build from that. Be thankful for what’s already in your life and take it from there. As an indie author who works parttime for her bread and butter, I can feel extremely overwhelmed. I need to do this, I have to do that, why is this not finished yet? I still need to get this app, that coach, that marketing book. Pieu!

Ending last year I decided I am going to focus on what I have reached, connect with readers and other writers, set a few clear and reachable goals but most of all learn to enjoy the process. All those deadlines are all on me. You are just going about your lives, you don’t care if my reader magnet is a month or two later.

Let’s connect

I am also going to take the time to connect with my readers. Who are you? Where are you living? What is your focus for 2024? I am hoping to hear from you and look forward to reading your blogs!

Welcome back to WP, Kirsten. Sometimes it can be glitchy and annoying, but it works well overall, especially for connecting with an amazing community of writers, poets, artists, and readers. I’m glad you’re back. And those self-imposed deadlines? I can relate! I hope your new year brings tons of new friends and reams of creativity. 🙂

I hope the WP blog works out well for you, Kirsten. I’ve been blogging on WP for over 11 years and have made many friends – a number of whom I’ve met in person. New Zealand (throw in Australia & Tasmania, too) is a place I would love to see. Such a long trip! But who knows? Meanwhile, it would be fun to hear about your life there. Good luck with your 2024 goals!

Hi there Blue Brightly, I loved in NZ for large parts of my life, the last being 2007-2017 but now live very happily in the north of the Netherlands, also a beautiful country!

It is! We were there in 2019. We stayed in Leiden, which we loved, and traveled to Rotterdam. Then later in the same trip we stayed in Amsterdam. The Dutch are such friendly, open, fun people.
