“No, it’s not a drumband playing in my house, it’s just my five-month-old kitten banging the hanging extension of my desk,” I explained to a customer on the first Monday of the new year.
“Awww,” the customer replied.
Customer service
“I know…” I crooned back as I pulled Max away from the live power board sitting on the floor next to my desk. We are still waiting for the child safety bits we had to order in our impromptu lockdown working situation. My day job is in customer service, which I enjoy because I work for an insurance company that most people like and that puts great emphasis on customer connection.
A box and his mouse are the only things that can keep Max occupied for a minute or so. He soon turns his attention to less safe items such as electrical chords, power boards and light bulbs.
“Kittens are soooo cute,” the young man swooned as I ticked Max on the nose and put him firmly on the blanket on the comfy chair near the window. I didn’t even have to leave my desk, my office is very small. He immediately started to suck the blanket and fell asleep. Glorious.
