    Fly, birds, fly…

It’s a joy to hear migrating birds fly over when you wake up at night. Last night there must have been thousands, but as New Year’s Eve approaches, I wish them gone.

    Max ❤️ Max litter-ature

Max is a great name for achieving things. Just think of Max Verstappen, the Dutch queen Maxima or Max, the university cat who, in the past year, got  a doctorate in litter-ature from Vermont State University.

    Marple indeed!

It had been a gruesome kind of day for me, the 8th of the 8th at 8:00 am. I had to get my crown recapped, and made sure I had a treat waiting for me when I got back. This was Marple, twelve new stories, twelve great writers, one Agatha Christie.

Kirsten Bett (1 July 1962, Auckland, New-Zealand) started writing as soon as she could read, before she was taken to the Netherlands as a 10-year old and lost herself in a language full of throaty sounds and unfamiliar articles.

“As a solution I just put ‘het’ before every word instead of the other article ‘de’ but I got told off for that as well.”

Back in New Zealand, after many years, Kirsten gained a Diploma in Creative writing from Whitireia Polytechnic. She wrote her first book My name is Wilma in 2021, after they’d moved back to the Netherlands. She also translated and edited this book for Dutch readers.
