Kirsten Bett (1 July 1962, Auckland, New-Zealand) started writing as soon as she could read, before she was taken to the Netherlands as a 10-year old and lost herself in a language full of throaty sounds and unfamiliar articles.

“As a solution I just put ‘het’ before every word instead of the other article ‘de’ but I got told off for that as well.”

Back in New Zealand, after many years, Kirsten gained a Diploma in Creative writing from Whitireia Polytechnic. She wrote her first book My name is Wilma in 2021, after they’d moved back to the Netherlands. She also translated and edited this book for Dutch readers.
